Architecture . Architecture of Interiors, Design for Context

Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation, 1999, Lisbon

Remodeling of the interior architecture project, equipment and furniture - public areas and social areas.

For the remodeling project of the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation’s public areas (1999-2004), Daciano da Costa designs the gallery of temporary exhibitions, the reception desk, the bookstore, the conference reception area, the ticket office and the library lobby. For the social areas, Daciano designs the restaurant, the administration / management hall and the dining rooms of the management, administration and staff. Moreover, as an example, Daciano da Costa takes up pieces implemented in the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation's initial interior design project between 1966 and 1969, among them the armchair and the Foundation sofa, the dining room chairs of the management department and the employee’s restaurant.

For the reception area of conferences Daciano re-edites Boroa 1 designed for the Cultural Center of Belém (1990-1992); the armchair is adapted with thinner feet, maintaining the rhythm of the sequence of the design in the set of armchairs, this time implementing the bordeaux color. Another piece reissued is the Palácio armchair, in brown leather, which had been designed in woolen fabric for the Madeira Hilton Hotel / Madeira Palácio (1970-1971). The Palácio armchair was also re-edited for the Cultural Center of Belém (1990-1992) in black leather.
