“Shepherd | Osaka” cutlery, 1967

Design submitted in 1967 to the Viners International Tableware Design Competition, promoted by the company Viners of Sheffield, for a stainless steel dining and dessert cutlery set.

A reference to the formal sobriety of the cutlery used in rural locations, in particular by the shepherds from Alentejo, was the reasoning for the name originally given: Shepherd. In 1970, the company Chromolit Portugal produced a small serie, specially intended for the restaurant of the Portuguese Pavilion at the Osaka World Fair.
