“Sancho” Line, 1997

Collection of wooden office furniture.

The design of this line results from a refusal of topics - formal and constructive - generally associated with the furniture of modernity.

The solid and stable expression base would, however, be detailed in apparent dissonance, in order to produce an ambiguous and unexpected effect of visual instability: the bevelled seat edges simulate absence of thickness; from some points of view, the structural parts of triangular or trapezoidal section seem reduced to thin slabs of wood.

In these furniture, Daciano retakes the experiences of manipulating the visual effect of the structures - for the first time carried out in the Costureira chair (Habitat 70 line) - and systematizes a sequence initiated in the furniture designed for the Cultural Center of Belém (1990-1992) and developed in the Paços dos Concelho Building (1997-1998).
