The article presents Mitnova, an office furniture system designed in 1975 by Daciano Monteiro Costa. The project included several types of furniture, but only the desks were produced—and in limited quantities—due to market rejection and weak sales organization. The author criticizes the Portuguese market’s tendency, especially during economic crises, to reject simple and functional products in favor of more conventional ones. Mitnova stood out for its innovation and low manufacturing cost, achieved by eliminating drawers and simplifying components through the use of materials such as painted steel and veneered wood.
