Daciano da Costa: 20 Years of a Living Legacy, As Time Passes, Design Endures – Daciano’s Legacy, Two Decades Later

In 2025, we mark twenty years since the passing of Daciano da Costa (1930–2005), a central figure in Portuguese design. Throughout a career defined by innovation and modernity, Daciano da Costa transformed the way we think about space, furniture, and visual identity. His work, which transcends generations, continues to inspire designers, architects, and creators, keeping alive his vision of a functional, humanist, and deeply Portuguese design.

In this article, we revisit press clippings from that time, which bear witness to the recognition and influence of the author at the moment of his passing. Through memories, tributes, and critical reflections, these contemporary texts reveal not only the immediate impact of his absence, but also the enduring presence of his legacy over time.
